Love Rocks

At least once a week my morning walking route takes me up and through Mt. Tabor Park, the beautiful extinct volcano just a few blocks from my home. I encountered the Oregon Organ Donor Registry Run. Among the runners and displays was a young family promoting "Love Rocks", actual rocks with a simple cloth heart affixed in honor and memory of their two young daughters who died in 2014 in a tragic accident.

The rocks are free and are to be models for recipients to make their own rocks, allow them to be found and shared. It was such a beautiful and heart felt gesture by this young family that I still feel the impact of their grief and deep loss.

Sometimes fabric isn't for home decors or garments: it's about touching others in a simple symbol that changes lives.
