Th Barrel Chair Conundrum

Unlike more conventional boxed shaped furniture, barrel chairs present their own challenges! These two diminutive darlings have a good pedigree: custom built some years ago, now they grace the home of the daughter of the original owners. These chairs have definitely been loved over time, and could have benefitted from being reupholstered. But with a dog in the family, having removable (if not washable) slipcovers made more sense.

Designing slips for barrel chairs requires more detailed measuring and employing dress-maker techniques in the construction. I returned to my client's home twice to make sure these slips were going to fit properly. Fortunately, she was very gracious!
